Case Analysis

CASE ANALYSIS

The key stake holders in this case study are:

(i) SEA
(ii) Frank and Semra (Consultants)
(iii) SEA Trainers

Primary issues of each stake holder are:

SEA: The primary issue of this stake holder is to develop a training design centre that would train the trainers through design of instructions using systems approach for an effective and efficient Teaching – Learning process. Another issue is that they lacked expertise in this area.

Frank and Semra (Consultants): Primary issue of the designers is to design a course that will take care of the skills and competencies required for the target audience namely SEA trainers to deliver the course using appropriate instructional strategy that suits them in delivering the instruction.

SEA Trainers: One of the important stake holders in this Case are the SEA Trainers, as thy are the one who will be implementing the designed course for the trainees. Primary issue that hog them is the belief system based on their prior experience that the target audience will not prefer to undergo training which will be more interactive and assessment measures which will be of performance based rather than memory based for which they are used to. Secondly, various operational factors that are involved in their working environment etc., are the pertinent issues that are concerned to them.

Primary Issues of this Case: based on various perspectives the primary issues that are concerned in this case are,

Design of an ID course /curriculum that helps target audience in mastering factual information and develop skills that will help them in performing their job as a trainer
To change the belief system of the clients by making them to accept the new teaching - learning scenario/environment

Recommendations for the designers:

Develop a strategy which will convince the clients by making them more comfortable in adopting this method and remove anxiety in their mind so that their level in resisting to change decreases.
Approach a systematic research based methodology for developing and implementing the course based on foundations of IDD

Pros and Cons of Recommendations:

The recommendations given in the case if adopted will be of a great success because the designers will be adopting a research based approach rather tan a piece meal approach in design and deployment of the strategy

But the major constraint is that how well the approach will taken into account the affective domain aspect of the target audience
